GUIDANCE

As well as sharing ideas among ourselves, we want to share what we've learnt with other social housing providers too.  We've developed some short guidance documents to get colleagues started in the sector.  While these shouldn't replace legal, technical or other professional advice, they give some straight-forward principles to help you on your heat network journey.  They are free for you to use and share!

DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Getting the design of district right in the first place can help avoid many operational problems further down the road.  This document outlines the core principles we believe should be borne in mind when designing a district or communal heating system in social housing.

HEAT SUPPLY AGREEMENT PRINCIPLES

A heat supply agreement is a contract between you and your heat network customers.  This document shares our ideas of what you could include and helps you to think out how it dovetails with other agreements you have in place, how easy it is to update and whether different agreements are needed for different types of customer

COMMUNICATION PRINCIPLES

Communication with your customers should be open, early, frequent and easy to understand.  This document outlines the core principles we believe should be borne in mind when communicating to your customers about their district or communal heating system.
